Product Introduction
Asphalt rejuvenator is an asphalt pavement recycling material. Its primary function is to fully dissolve and disperse the asphaltenes in aged asphalt, adjust the proportion of components in the aged asphalt, thereby improving the performance of the aged asphalt. It also enhances the road performance of the recycled mixture by introducing a special polymer substance that offers a certain strengthening effect. It is suitable for plant hot recycling and in-place hot recycling renovation projects of asphalt pavements for various grades of highways, municipal roads, and airport runways. When used for plant hot recycling, it can significantly increase the utilization rate of reclaimed materials.

Performance Characteristics and Effects
Excellent Recycling Effect: The product has strong diffusion and penetration capabilities, allowing it to penetrate the interior of aged asphalt to dissolve and decompose asphaltenes. It can effectively supplement the missing components in the aged asphalt, and can restore the penetration and softening point of the aged matrix asphalt to the level of the original asphalt. Low-temperature ductility can be restored by more than 70%.
Superior Strengthening Effect: The addition of the rejuvenator can significantly enhance the anti-water damage and low-temperature crack resistance of the recycled asphalt mixture as below Table 2.
Table 2: Road Performance of Recycled Asphalt Mixture (with 50% Reclaimed Material Content)
Road Performance | Blank Sample | XT-2 |
Water Immersion Stripping Loss Rate (%) | 26.3 | 2.1 |
Freeze-Thaw Splitting Strength Ratio (%) | 68.6 | 88.8 |
Maximum Flexural Tensile Strain (×10-6) | 1813 | 2259 |
Strong Aging Resistance: After the thin film oven aging test, the viscosity and mass of the rejuvenator remain almost unchanged, demonstrating excellent anti-aging performance.
High Construction Safety: The product is not classified as hazardous and is transported as ordinary cargo. The flash point is greater than 220℃, ensuring construction safety.

Usage and Precautions
Dosage: The suggested dosage is 0.2%-0.35% of the milled material (which is 4%~15% of the old asphalt mass, with a recommendation of 8%). The specific dosage should be determined through testing based on the degree of asphalt aging.
Method of Use:
Using dedicated rejuvenator spraying equipment: To improve the dispersion and penetration of the rejuvenator, it is advisable to heat the rejuvenator to a certain temperature when using it (80-130℃ for spraying). The rejuvenator can be sprayed directly and uniformly onto the heated milled material, and the old material should then be mixed uniformly with new aggregate and new asphalt in the mixing drum. This method requires the addition of special precise spraying metering equipment because only 1-3 kg of rejuvenator is sprayed per ton of mixture, and without precise control, the addition time is very short, making it difficult to spray uniformly.
Adding a dedicated blending tank:
- Utilize an existing spare asphalt tank or add a dedicated blending tank.
- The rejuvenator and the required supplementary new asphalt, determined through testing, are added to the blending tank according to the proportion while maintaining the asphalt's insulation temperature (the spare asphalt tank can be used). Mix uniformly (by stirring or cycling with the asphalt pump 2-3 times).
Calculation Example:
For example, for a 1 ton mixture: 50% milled material, the recommended rejuvenator dosage is 0.25% of the milled material, and 2.5% of new asphalt needs to be supplemented through testing.
New Asphalt: 1000*2.5% = 25kg
Rejuvenator: 500*0.25% = 1.25kg
New Asphalt : Rejuvenator Ratio = 25 : 1.25 = 20 : 1
This means that 1 ton of rejuvenator should be added to 20 tons of asphalt and mixed uniformly in the blending tank. This method, where the rejuvenator is pre-mixed uniformly with the new asphalt, is easier to control, and the deviation is relatively small. Based on the results of multiple actual projects, this method fully meets the requirements.
Precautions: The mixture of rejuvenator and new asphalt in the blending tank can only be used for the specific project's milled material ratio that has been determined by testing. It cannot be used as ordinary asphalt for other projects or other milled material ratios.
Storage: The product has a shelf life of 1 year. It should be sealed and stored in a dry, cool place.
